NIKOHLI BEAGLE Wins First Up at Randwick
Jan 02, 2022
Lightly raced 5yo gelding Nikohli Beagle kept his impressive first-up record intact with a swooping win on the Randwick Kensington on New Year's Day.
Despite starting from barrier 10 in the 1100m Midway Race, Nikohli Beagle jumped well and drifted back to find cover just worse than midfield.
Jockey JessTaylor extricated him from the rails at the 400 metre mark and unleashed a strong sprint up the straight. The perfectly timed run saw him win by just over a 1/4 of a length.
Starting at the odds of $8, Nikohli Beagle's record now stands at 15 starts for 5 wins and 2 thirds, with prizemoney of $142,515.
His managing owner, James Critchley, is also the managing owner of Looks Like Elvis, who far from disgraced the stable with a brave second in the Listed Chester Manifold Stakes at Flemington only 15 minutes later in the day!
