Profile

Jarrod Austin

Jarrod has been working with horses for all his life, having been raised on a thoroughbred horse stud outside Tamworth in country NSW.

He spent time with Kerry Walker as a teenager before taking out his own trainers licence on the mid north coast of NSW at the age of 18 before moving to provincial tracks.

Jarrod has extensive experience in all aspects of the Thoroughbred industry including horse breaking, breeding, pre training and training.

Jarrod believes that a key ingredient to racing success is to treat each horse as an individual and his training techniques are tailored accordingly. A strong focus is being hands on with each of his horses. As part of this philosophy Jarrod does a portion of his own work riding to ensure he has a personal feel for each horse.

With this approach Jarrod’s strike rate since obtaining his own trainers licence at Warwick Farm in June 2011 is more than outstanding with 7 city winners in his first season, and a city double! His success has continued to escalate, and with more quality stock comgin through, will no doubt continue to do so.
